St. Augustine Record

Summer has finally arrived and with warmer days and longer nights comes a desire to enjoy all of the summer activities from beach days and backyard barbeques to so much more. Of course, the most tried-and-true summer activity is none other than the Fourth of July. With dazzling fireworks and a day spent under the summer sun, what could be better? Celebrating in the Ancient City, of course! So, if you find yourself in St. Augustine, Florida this holiday, here’s how to celebrate America’s independence.

Dancing in the Plaza

Head to the Plaza de la Constitución for a free performance by the All-Star Orchestra! Starting at 6pm, the popular local band will perform a two-hour show of swing music and patriotic favorites for guests to dance along to. The concert is free, open to the public and is the perfect family-friendly event to enjoy before the colorful fireworks show.

Annual Fireworks Show

Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper celebration without a dazzling fireworks show. So, if you’re wondering how to celebrate the Fourth of July in St. Augustine, head downtown for this one-of-a-kind event. Gather along the bay between the Castillo de San Marcos and the Bridge of Lions for a great view of the St. Augustine, Florida Independence Day fireworks as they create a sparkling sight over the water. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. The show begins at 9:30pm.

Dinner with a View

from Sainte-George website

With countless options to choose from, including Sainte-George Restaurant, O.C. White’s, or River & Fort you can enjoy a delicious meal and (if you time it right) a spectacular view of the fireworks.

After-Dinner Drinks at Tini Martini

Looking for the perfect place to enjoy a nightcap with a view of the city? Then it’s time to head over to the one and only Tini Martini. Located downtown with a view of the bay, grab a seat on their porch and enjoy a martini (or two) as you settle in for the show. Remember, this bar is first-come-first-serve!

Take to the Water

Everyone knows that the view is always better from the water. So, why not head out to the bay yourself this holiday? Climb aboard with Florida Water Tours, Sabrage Charters or the iconic Schooner Freedom for an unforgettable experience as you sail across the bay and take in the view of the city skyline.
